Today (Thursday 30 May) Farming Minister Robert Goodwill attended the Royal Bath and West Show, one of the biggest agricultural shows for the West of England.
At the show, Minister Goodwill visited the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) tent and met with Somerset regional director, Sarah Fern. He also met with members Somerset Young Farmers’ Club. They discussed his own experience of being in a young farmer’s club, the vital contribution that clubs make to rural communities and future opportunities for young farmers.
He also had the opportunity to visit the prestigious British Cheese Awards, meeting cheesemakers who travelled to the showground in Somerset from across the country with their finest cheeses.
Speaking at the show, Farming Minister Robert Goodwill said:
I am delighted to be here at the Royal Bath and West Show today to experience the very best of the West Country’s food, farming and rural life.
It’s a very impressive showcase for the region and clearly demonstrates why worldwide demand for British food and drink, including West Country cheese and cider, is truly justified.
